Dating from the 13th Century, the Château de Bagnols is one of France's historic monuments. The atmosphere, serene and welcoming, in accordance with a beautiful private residence, allows guests to relax in a setting which combines luxury and perfection whilst taking advantage of the beauty of the region.

Location

Château de Bagnols is set among vineyards, forests and green hills in the heart of the Beaujolais countryside in south eastern France. Lyon's international airport is about 20 miles away. A train from Paris or Geneva takes only 2 hours.

History

Chosen as one of the "Hundred and One Most Beautiful Hotels in the World" by Tattler magazine, a deserved member of 'The Small Leading Hotels of the World' since August 2002, a haven of peace and tranquility and a witness to eight centuries of history, Château de Bagnols is an architectural treasure of France, a symbol of French history and tradition. Each room is unique and  bears the name of a famous person connected with the history of Bagnols. The coat of arms of Guichard D'Oingt, first owner of the Chateau, have become the arms of the present day Château de Bagnols: "a silver helmet with three stars of gold".

Staying in one of the Château de Bagnols eight suites and one apartment offers the experience of being a cherished guest in historic, luxurious and relaxing surroundings. Column beds, four-poster beds, bed hangings of 'Toile de Jouy' and beautiful antique silks, tapestries, wall-paintings and other collector's items adorn the various private and public rooms of the Château, giving them a unique soul and atmosphere.
